WELCOME!
Mexican Fauna.org is a collection of seven websites that include:
They are all brought to you advertisement-free. I hope you will benefit from their contents without having to endure the visual clutter and distraction of meaningless ads. It is just another way for me to say thank you and give back to science. Please enjoy!
At the beginning each of these websites were included within Mexfish.com, an exceptional website owned and operated by Gene Kira. On June 15, 2016, with Gene’s support, Mexican-fish.com was spun off as a stand alone website. As the sheer number of species expanded and I branched off into all aspects of Mexican Biological life (except for Plants and Insects) I felt a lot was being buried within Mexican-fish.com that would have interest to different readerships. On April 1, 2022, I launched Mexican-Birds.org; in March 2024 I added McKenna Andrews, who recently graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, to the staff. On January 1, 2023, I launched Mexican-Shells.org; in May 2024 I added Bob Hillis to the staff. On August 1, 2023, I launched Mexican-Terrestrail-Life.org; in February 2023 I added Rachel Garat, who recently graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, to the staff. On October 1, 2024, I launched Mexican-Marine-Life-Life.org; in February 2023 I added Annika Collier, who recently graduated from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, to the staff; in September 2024 I added Bob Hillis to the staff. One additional Website – Mexican-Crabs.org – is under development and will be launched not later than January 1, 2025.
These websites have been put together for the benefit of recreationalist and the scientific community in an effort to give back to science which has been very good to me over the years. It is done without funding and has only a one-way monetary stream, i.e., expenditures. Long term, a book might be in the works and its proceeds would be donated to charity.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS ARE REQUESTED. Do you have a photo of an unknown or new Mexican Fauna not listed in these websites, or an otherwise especially interesting or attractive photo of fauna observed in Mexican waters? I welcome the opportunity to look at your photographs and identify your discovery. Please send them to me via e-mail at Johntsnow32@gmail.com. You will be amazed at how quickly you get a response with the a correct identification. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! Thank You in advance and Muchas Gracias!
USE OF OUR MATERIAL. To keep it simple – I am happy to share anything I have with you. Please note that I retain higher resolution photographs than those found on this website since the tool that drives WordPress downsizes all photographs during the posting process. It is very easy for me to send my photographs to you via e-mail. I do have one request however – that you advise me about what you are planning on doing with my photos. For example, it is meaningful to me to know that if you are driving down coastal Costa Rica and you pass a sign to the entrance to the Tarcoles Fishing Village the pictured Pacific Red Snapper is one of my photos.
CONSERVATION STATUS. For each posting within this Website I have tried to consult the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and included the information they provide.
Underwater Photographic Opportunities Within the Sea of Cortez. In a word – endless for those with the inclination and the required photographic equipment.
